Correlación espacial de la Fiebre Manchada y otras rickettsiosis humanas transmitidas por garrapatas con la ganadería bovina en México
Abstract
INTRODUCTION: In Mexico there is biological plausibility for the relationship between cattle and tick-borne human rickettsial diseases. OBJECTIVES Identify the spatial distribution of deaths, mortality risk and hospital discharges for human rickettsial and its relation to bovine livestock productivity. MATERIAL AND METHODS A spatial correlation of official riquettsial disease data from the Secretary of Health of Mexico (2000-2014) and cattle production data (2014) was carried out. Absolute numbers and standardized mortality ratios (SMR) were used. RESULTS 92% of deaths, 84% of hospital admissions and 78% of municipalities with high and very high SMR concentrated in the municipalities belong to the upper strata of bovine livestock productivity. The spatial distribution of the data follows the line marked by territorial cattle productivity. DISCUSSION Further research on this association is required to determine if there exist causal character.
