Abstract

At the Institute for Anthropological Research, UNAM, an investigation is underway with the objective of recognizing the tendencies in research on growth and physical development in the Mexican population evident in published studies. By means of different bibliographic search procedures, 500 references are preseably documented of wich 212, published between 1883 and 1995, have been analyzed. In this paper the evolution of publications in quantitative terms is considered, as well as the participation of medical and anthropological specialists, the type of research carried out and the geographical location
