AIDS is without question a pandemic disease, today strong and agressively embodied. Individuals and social groups are immerses in terror about AIDS based not only on its characteristics, but also on conceptions, expectations and the symbolic meaning structure that have been constructed about the disease. Thus, the embodiment of the sickness is a consequence of sociocultural and psychological phenomena that construct AIDS as a cause for social deterioration, more than a cause for deterioration of the ill person
