Tendencia de los indicadores de mortalidad antes y durante la Revolución Bolivariana de Venezuela
Abstract
Objective: We have proposed to compare the mortality rates, infant and maternal mortality in Venezuela before the Bolivarian Revolution and during the Bolivarian Revolution. Methodology: A descriptive and longitudinal analysis was performed based on curvilinear estimation models for time series. Results: We recorded deterioration in the overall mortality rate for the Bolivarian Revolution mainly explained by the greater increase in the rate of cancer mortality and the significant increase in deaths from homicides. The infant mortality rate decreased faster during the Revolution by the shift from positive to negative rates of mortality and the more rapid decline in mortality rates from intestinal diseases. The maternal mortality rate continues to decline even during the Bolivarian Revolution, makes it slower. / KEYWORDS: Trend-mortality, infant mortality, maternal mortality, Venezuela, Bolivarian Revolution.
