La mirada médica disciplinaria desde la perspectiva de la Medicina Social

Abstract

A first aim for this paper is to examine some concepts in the work of Michel Foucault (‘The birth of the clinic’, 1963; ‘The birth of social medicine’, 1974; ‘Society must be defended’, 1997) suitable to analyze the social determinants of medical practice. Building upon those foucaultean concepts, the second aim of this paper is the formulation of some questions relative to the ideological, political and economic determinants of medical practice and to present come frequently used methodologies to approach Foucaults’ theoretical framework. / KEYWORDS: Disciplinary Medical Gaze, Biopolitics, Michel Foucault, State, Social Medicine.
