Abstract

The first theoretical insights of the project "The meaning of the processes of aging of the labor market. A research into workers and retired mentalities", carried out at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, under Dr. Eleonra Menecucci de Oliveira's supervision, are presented in this paper. lt deals with Brazil's demographic transition and recognizes that aging is perceived by the workers only when they are retiring or when they are unemployed. Therefore, to understand these issues the methodology of the history of mentalities is useful.
