Tendencias en la educación odontológica en México

¿hacia dónde orientar la formación profesional?

Abstract

The present paper departs from recommendations given in the field of dental education since the 60’s in Latin America, hence in Mexico, giving place to different schools of thought in this field. Here it is presented an analysis of present trends and influencing factors -such as the socioeconomic context-; the technical and scientific development and the presence of new actors -as human rights institutions, that encourages and watches people’s protection-, in present Mexican dental health. From that startpoint are identified main challenges and desirable changes for dental training in the new century.
