Democracia y Liberalismo ¿Complementariedad o contradicción?
El contraste entre México y Brasil y el desarrollo de la política de salud en México
Abstract
This essay addresses the existent relationship between politics and health. For this purpose two analyses are done: first, a brief comparison between Mexico and Brazil; second, an analysis of Mexican State’s structuring and the practice of medicine in this context. These two analyses seek to establish differences between liberalism and democracy rationales and to put into perspective how those contradictions create a contested territory which is the domain of the political. The essay also describes some aspects of State’s power strategies to incorporate health modern social demands into institutional ways, that reinforce State’s structure and reproduce the logic of State’s power.
