Abstract

In this essay we present the case of a man who was imprisoned after being accused for mobile´s phone theft and spent two years of his life in a prison in Mexico City. Through an in-depth interview the authors present this testimony in order to recover the experience of the interviewee and reflect on some important issues in the field of collective health: living conditions inside the prison, attention to the disease, the project and social reintegration. We start to understand the health of the subjects as determined by the material conditions of existence and expressed the need that detention institutions move the look focused on the punishment to a look which prioritize the rights of inmates.
