Abstract

This paper presents the results of a study aiming to unveil some aspects of informant's bias when answering questionnaires. It is argued that one possible source of bias can result of the psychological effect that the questions produce in the informant. This observational study tested two hypotheses through the design and application to al1 informants of two correspondent questions. As expected the results showed that: the interviewees did not make effort to know the researcher's aims and tended to answer the questions although these did not make sense to them; and they make efforts to avoid presenting an image of misinformation or ignorance.
