Abstract

We performed a study to explore the opinions about the Voluntary Pregnancy Interruption among psychology students in Mexico City. We used a self-assessed questionnarie including as main variables: age, sex, marital status, financial situation, family characteristics, student's religion, university they study in, type of university (private or public) and school grade. We found out that 63% of the students have an opinion which could be qualified as liberal opinion; 7.6% have an opinion which could be qualified as a conservative position, and 25% do not have a defined opinion. The variables that were associated with the views expressed were the type of university (public or private), university, who they live, and religion. No other characteristic was statistically associated. Although there is a greater tendency to have conservative views when studying at a private university and / or have a religion, apparently also affects the geographical origin. This review suggested further study on the matter.
