La influenza en México 2005-2009.Panorama Previo al inicio de la Pandemia

Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify the epidemiological condition of influenza in Mexico before the emission of the epidemiological alert and to identify the opportunity of it. A descriptive study was conducted from official sources identifying the behavior and characteristics of reported cases of influenza and pneumonia. There is a higher incidence among children, the Federal District ranked first in the rate of incidence of the disease. It exists an increase of cases accumulated from the fourth epidemiological week, compared to the same periods of the previous three years. There is a delay in the emission of the epidemiological alert according with the number of reported cases in the national epidemiological bulletin.
