Abstract

Resulting from constant decrease of fertility y and mortality rates occurred during the XIX and XX centuries, the world has experienced enormous demographic changes, one of them is aging patterns. Consequences of increasing longevity worldwide will be a very important issue in the XXI century. In this context the definition of which is the most effective research about human survival and the analysis of worldwide strategies to face the challenge of population aging acquires great importance. Research must adapt to available information and to the operative necessities of large and specific social groups. I propose the combination of survival curves with conventional demographic methods for the investigation of the human survival. We argue that complementary use of both methods can better help to explain the aging process, its repercussions in collective health and the impact of social response to attenuate its negative consequences
