Homofobia y salud

Abstract

The present work develops and analysis of the pathological profile that the homosexuals show. On the basis of a bibliographical revision, it is presented a characterization of the sanitary inequality based on the sexual direction. The morbidity and mortality patterns of the homosexuals include: infections diseases in general, sexually transmitted diseases, damages to mental health, violence and homicide, low social support and greater obstacles for medical attention. For the analysis of this conceptual referring profile a series of between sets out which emphasizes homophobia, its institutionalization and its individualization as well as its operative expressions, omission, minimization, concession, restriction and opened aggression; categories that articulated would conform the process of social determination of the sanitary vulnerability of this population.
