La información y la medición de la salud mental.

Abstract

Actually mental illness burden is one of the most important causes of disability in Mexico and all around the world. It as become a public health problem. In order to make decisions on preventive and curative fields, it is necesary to measure its magnitude. In Mexico the information on mental health is a complex task because of lack of uniformity in the way it is referred. Even more, accurate health figures have been based on mortality rates and mental disorders cause few deaths. In this paper we point out the political value of accurate information on disability causes by mental disorders through h the introduction of AVISA as an indicator of disability even though this indicator has been used in behalf of capital.
