Abstract

The present work deals with the conception of nursing care that have been developed historically through various theories and incorporating knowledge of diverse disciplines such as anthropology and sociology, which clearly define the positivist epistemological posture that nursing has in relation to the health-disease process. From this position, health is usually considered as a scientific-technical object of professional content under a medical-scientific vision, whose objectives are mainly to combat diseases and meet the cosmetic needs of people and does not necessarily intend to preserve a healthy life. The notion about nursing care privileges the self care and free will ability of the people, defining in turn, the role of nursing as a disciplinary instrument of the State, which is why it is necessary to incorporate in the theoretical discussion the vision Medical social of the disease health process and the social determination of health for the construction of a new conception of nursing care.
