Homophobic violence and health in the school space. Retrospective reflections on the homosexual experience
Abstract
One of the main research themes on social medicine theoretical field are social processes link to health inequalities. The most prevalent harms on homosexual men´s health are associated with social rejection to their sexual desire. Trough a qualitative approach to their experiences, this paper documents the homophobic violence experienced by some homosexual men in their scholar spaces as well as the association with psychic suffering symptoms. It was carried out in-depth interviews to 17 homosexual men in Mexico City whose discourses document the modalities of violence they experienced, and their impact on their mental health. Our analysis try to construct the process of health-illness social determination process as a vital fact that this group experienced.
