El VIH/SIDA en dos centros penitenciarios del Distrito Federal

The aim of this work was to describe the elements existent in discourse and practices around HIV/AIDS in individuals which live and work in two Mexico City’s penitentiaries institutions. Non-infected inmates were interviewed in focus groups, HIV inmates, technical workers and functionaries were interviewed individually at two prisons: the Penitenciaría of Distrito Federal that shelters male population and the Centro Femenil de Readaptación Social Santa Marta Acatitla that shelters female population. Furthermore it was used the non participant observation technique, during 6 months in each institution. The obtained information was submitted in first place to a thematic analysis; after, a textual analysis through software ALCESTE 4.5 was carried on. By both information analysis strategies, showed elements suggest the presence of two principal categories: discourse and practices. The principal finding indicates drugs consumption like main element expressed in verbal way by participants like ideas and beliefs that impact practices existent in institutional dynamic around the HIV/AIDS phenomenon
