Objective get to know the performance and basics on the male condom as a barrier method to avoid ITS. Methods and material: descriptive, comparative, observational and transverse investigation. Self- survey applied by 152 medical doctors’ students at the UAM/X, using the Likert scale. Results: average age of 21 years old. 53.9% women and 46.1% men of sample, 92.1% single in both categories. Findings were as follows: 57.2% of the students has “totally agreed” that condom helps prevent ITS. 96.1% has “totally agreed” in using a new condom in every sexual intercourse, 83.6% have “disagreed” in not checking the expiration date of the condom, 96.1% “disagree” in not using a condom when the sex partner looks physically healthy. Both men and women showed a positive attitude towards condom; men even showed positive on the fact that women asked them to use condoms. However, there are still some students that have misunderstood facts about condoms that are why it’s necessary to provide information to them
