La globalización y las políticas de salud

Abstract

The relation between globalization expression of world hegemony of transnational financial groups, and health policy is the health reform that is presently implemented in Latin America. This paper argues that this new health policy responds to the necessities of the new model of accumulation and turns health services and financing into a field of private appropriation of financial and technological profits. The advances of the reforms in different countries are reviewed and their impact on equity, costs, coverage and orientation of services are analyzed. Considering the negative findings of this analysis the basic traits of an alternative health reform, designed to satisfy the basic human need health, are outlined
