El Banco Mundial en la reforma de los servicios médicos del IMSS

Abstract

This paper carries out a critical review of the World Bank proposal to reform IMSS's health services which is the Bank's condition to concede a mayor loan to Mexico. Although the Bank proposal does not differ much from the one proposed by the federal government, it stresses as the main objectives to contain costs and to introduce market mechanism for resource allocation. This model has adverse implications for the insured and cancels the basic principals of Mexican social security its public, solidarian and redistributive character
