Abstract
This research was carried out taking as starting point a group of 40 children (21 boys and 19 girls) under six years-old enrolled in a day care center for single mothers. The study dealt with the relationships between the single mother's living conditions, their health status and their children's. Twenty nine of the thirty one mothers involved with the day care center were interviewed. The weight and height as well as the age of mothers and children were recorded. Nineteen women had overweight problems, while almost half of their children were undernurished. The latter probably associated with domestic violence
