Prevalencia de bareback en una red social virtual dirigida a varones homosexuales de la Ciudad de México
Abstract
Anglophone studies have documented the increase of intentional unprotected anal sex or bareback among young gay men and its connection with the use of internet. In Mexico there are no scientific studies about the frequency and prevalence in bareback and its relationship with the internet. There was carried out a transversal study, using one of the two most popular social networks focused on gay men in Mexico City throughout August 2010. It was analyzed the association (OR) and statistical significance (chi-squared) between different variables with a level of significance of 0.01. It was found out a prevalence of 12/844 internet users that were looking for bareback, the age interval with higher risk was between 30 and 45 years old (OR= 3.35), other identified associations were: does not disclosure or not being sure about their serological status (OR=46.68) and drug use (OR=7.21).
